Ludovic Thirvaudey

Born in 1980 in Thonon-les-Bains, Ludovic Thirvaudey began studying the bassoon in his hometown, then continued in Geneva from 1998 with Roger Birnstingl and Daniele Damiano, and later with Alberto Guerra in Lausanne. In 2005, he obtained a soloist diploma with highest honors. He also studied historical bassoons with Lorenzo Alpert at the Centre de Musique Ancienne in Geneva.

Drawn to composition from an early age, he joined Eric Gaudibert’s class in 1996 at the Conservatoire Populaire de Musique de Genève and continued at the Haute École de Musique de Genève in 1999. He also attended postgraduate courses with Michaël Jarrell. He has received several commissions, and his works have been performed in Switzerland and abroad.

Since 2005, he has been principal bassoonist with the Orchestre de Chambre de Genève. A founding member of the Lémanic Modern Ensemble, he collaborates regularly with Ensemble Contrechamps.

He teaches music theory, composition (“Tous créateurs, tous compositeurs”), and solfège – preparation for HEM – at the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève.
