A graduate of the Conservatoire National de Région de Paris and the Haute École de Musique de Genève, Marine Wertz studied clarinet with Richard Vieille, Jérôme Voisin, Jean-Michel Bertelli, and Romain Guyot. In 2012, she was awarded the Sih-Woo Cardinaux-Chang Prize in Geneva.
Passionate about chamber music, Marine Wertz performs with various ensembles at festivals in France and abroad, including Les Musicales de Colmar, Les Jardins Musicaux, Festival de la Cité, Lavaux Classic, Festival du Toûno, Laboratoire Musical de Chêne-Bougeries, Les Concerts du Cœur, La Schubertiade, and the Fête des Vignerons. She is a co-founder of FECIMEO, a flexible-formation ensemble. Deeply involved in contemporary music, she can also be heard with Ensemble Vortex, Ensemble Contrechamps, and the Lémanic Modern Ensemble.
Marine Wertz has long aspired to bring music to the stage. In the world of musical theatre, she met Françoise Rivalland, Jean Geoffroy, and Henri-Charles Caget, who helped enrich her playing and artistic ideas. She is working on a version inspired by commedia dell’arte for clarinetist and theatrical performance, based on Karlheinz Stockhausen’s Der Harlekin. She collaborates with the company Les Voix du Conte on the creation of the musical reading Lettres de Westerbork, based on the writings of Etty Hillesum, as well as on children’s productions. She also works with the Compagnie du Rossignol in Geneva (The Snow Queen, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, An Opera in the Vegetable Garden, etc.).
Holder of a Master’s degree in Music Pedagogy, Marine Wertz teaches clarinet at the Conservatoire Populaire de Musique, Danse, Théâtre. She is particularly fond of working in school and extracurricular settings and is currently responsible for two “Orchestre en Classe” programs in Geneva.
